Called on Saturday morning to book a stay that night. They only had Cabin 4 available, but it had a kitchenette. We arrived to find pretty much a full kitchen which worked great for us since we brought our dog and wouldn't leave her alone to go to the restaurant. Was pleasantly surprised at the accommodations. Very comfortable and large for a cabin. The walls were adjoining in the bedroom. Our neighbors were not noisy, but i could hear the gentleman snoring at night. Would love to stay in a caboose next time. We didn't try the restaurant due to having the dog with us. The lady at the front counter was very nice and informative. The grounds were very clean and well kept. Would stay there again.
You need to stop at this place because if you miss it- you'll regret it. The customer service is fantastic, some of the best I've received. The food was brilliant and my steak was juicy and delicious. For dessert, we had a carrot cake which was amazing because it had the perfect amount of sweetness- not too much, not too little. The waiters helped me in deciding what I wanted and gave me amazing recommendations. In fact, when I had mashed potatoes, they made a gravy from scratch because there was none on the menu. The ambience of the place was so original and creative. Overall, I would definitely come here again. It's not everyday that you get to eat on a train!
I had no idea what to expect when we booked our caboose, but upon arrival I was surprised by how nice the Railroad Resort was and how well everything is put together. Our Southern Pacific caboose was comfortable and cozy with a great view of the Castle Crags. Food in the dining and lounge car was just ok, but the environment makes up for any shortcomings. We left wishing we had more time and will definitely go back.
