A great hike ! View from the top is breathtaking ! Follow the trails though to avoid getting lost
This was an awesome hike last Saturday. I was suprised how warm it was though. Not alot of shade on the hike so be sure to bring sunscreen. Hike above and beyond Heart Lake for incredible views of Castle Lake and Mt. Shasta.
Is shaped like a heart! You can see all the way to Mt. Ashland from there
The most beautiful and rewarding hike I've ever done. The trail is kind of not clear but you can start from castle lake campground and head on up from the first sign to a decent incline hike. You'll be able to see Mt. Shasta at one point but from there head again up and you will make a small turn to the right which is kind of hidden which will take you to Heart Lake. You'll feel like you found a secret location. The lake is absolutely beautiful and in fact shaped like a Heart. Imagine a lake on top of a mountain! You can see the beautiful views of Mt. Shasta and Castle lake from there. It's totally worth it.
Incredible views of My. Shasta reflected in Castle Lake. And a nice bit of exercise to get there -- about 2 miles with 1500ft rise.
